Ms Delivery and her vision

Mandy Busson is a Midwife in training.  She lives in Knysna and is at the end of a 4 year training process of becoming a Certified Professional Midwife ..Now the final step is to raise the funds she needs to get to the USA in September 2011 in order to write her final exams.

'Life is harsh for many in my area… Women wait by the side of the road, sometimes having to hitch a lift while in labour, as the ambulance takes too long to arrive or doesn’t arrive at all. Parents carry their sick children up to 40 kms, to the nearest clinic and back for treatment, and old people stuck without transport desperately need care. And underlying all is poor nutrition and a lack of education pertaining to personal wellness and empowerment.

Out of this has grown my vision for a small sustainable family wellness clinic and birth centre staffed by a professional midwife (myself) and a nurse, with help from volunteers and doctors."
