Relaxation In Labour

First part of labour whilst cervix is opening

  • You can do nothing to help the first part of labour, let the uterus do its own work
  • Practice relaxation during contractions
  • Rest in between them
  • The uterus works by the muscles of the top of the uterus stretching the cervix open and pressing the baby downwards, you need to keep the lower muscles relaxed to let the cervix be opened.
